TOWN OF ROCKLAND
Historically, Rockland is best known for its industrial history and was home to many shoe manufacturers. Today, the mills have been repurposed into venues for housing and local artists. More recently, Rockland has been transforming into a commercially diverse, innovative, and vibrant community with a downtown district that proudly showcases our most important services including Town Hall, Rockland Memorial Library, Rockland Community Center, the Rockland Fire Department, a senior center, schools, and more: www.rockland-ma.gov.
Announcements
The Town of Rockland was pleased to host Lt. Governor Susan Polito's "MassWorks Infrastructure Program Grant Announcement and Celebration of the One Stop for Growth Program" at Rockland Town Hall on November 9, 2021. Communities from across the Commonwealth attended the event. The Town was excited to receive a $2.244 million grant for the Abington & Rockland Joint Water Works for the Myers Avenue Water Treatment Plant Upgrades Project, and an additional $195,000 grant from the state's Brownfields Redevelopment Fund for the remediation of remaining contaminated soil and an assessment of the underground water table at the Estes site. Completion of this work will move the site to a Permanent Solution clearing the path for the creation of potential additional housing units on that parcel. Please read the Baker-Polito Administration announcement for complete details.
